Turn on Tic Buddy
What Tic Buddy does for your team, and how an owner or admin turns it on, chooses its features and who can use it, and sets a monthly limit.
Tic Buddy is your team's AI helper inside the inbox. It translates chats and voice notes, summarises long conversations and drafts replies. It works for your team only: it never writes to a customer by itself, and your agents decide what gets sent.
It is different from an AI assistant, which answers customers on its own.
Turn it on
Only owners and admins can do this.
- Open Settings → Tic Buddy.
- Under AI key, choose the Provider and paste your API key. The key is checked with the provider before it is saved.
- Switch on Turn on Tic Buddy for this workspace.
- Under Features, tick the ones you want: Translate chats, Voice notes to text, Chat summaries and Draft and improve replies. Leave the model on Recommended unless you have a reason to change it.
- Click Save changes.
Who pays
Tic Buddy runs on your own AI account. Each use is charged by your AI provider to the key you added, never by TicAte. A translation or a summary usually costs a fraction of a US cent.
Choose who can use it
Under Who can use it, tick the roles that may use Tic Buddy. Owners always can. Tic Buddy only ever works in chats the person can already open.
Set a monthly limit
Under Monthly limit, enter the most Tic Buddy may spend on your key in a calendar month, in US dollars. Owners and admins get an email when it reaches 80%. At the limit it pauses until the next month, and agents see a message saying so. Leave the box empty for no limit.
See who uses it
Usage this month lists each person with their number of requests and the estimated cost. Costs are worked out from the provider's list prices, so your provider's bill is the final word.
