Answer comments on your posts
Reply to Instagram and Facebook comments under the post, send the commenter a private DM that opens a chat in the inbox, or hide a comment.
Comments on your Instagram posts and reels and on your Facebook Page's posts arrive on the Comments page, newest first. From there you can answer in public, send the person a private message, or hide the comment, without opening Instagram or Facebook.
New comments appear within seconds, and the page checks for more by itself while it is open.
Find the comments to answer
The buttons at the top sort the comments:
- Needs reply: comments nobody has answered yet.
- Replied: comments you or an auto-reply have answered.
- Hidden: comments you have hidden.
- All: everything.
With more than one account, choose one from All accounts. Older comments at the bottom loads more.
Each comment shows the post's picture and caption, the account it came to, how long ago it was written, and the person's name and words. Post opens the post itself. Reply in a thread marks a comment that answers another comment.
Reply under the post
- Type your answer in the box under the comment.
- Click Reply publicly.
Your answer appears under their comment for everyone to see, and the comment moves to Replied.
Send a private DM
Some answers should not be public, such as a price or an address.
- Type your message in the box.
- Click Send DM.
The person receives it as a direct message on Instagram or Messenger, and a chat with them opens in the inbox, where their answer arrives. Open chat under the comment takes you to it.
Meta allows one private message per comment, within 7 days of the comment. After that, Send DM is greyed out; carry on in the inbox chat instead.
Hide a comment
Click Hide to hide a rude or spam comment from the public. Hidden comments move to Hidden; click Show to bring one back. You cannot reply publicly to a hidden comment until it is shown again.
If the page says comments are coming soon, they are not open in your workspace yet. To choose which accounts' comments are collected, see Reply to comments automatically.
