Switch a module off or delete it

Hide a module from the menu and keep its records, or delete it for good, and what to do when its payments still count.

Guide 7106Updated

When a module is no longer needed, you can switch it off and keep everything, or delete it with all its records. Only owners and admins can do either, in Settings → Modules.

Switch a module off

  1. Open Settings → Modules and click the module.
  2. Untick Show in the sidebar.

The module leaves the left menu, the Create menu, and the tabs on other records. Its records, fields and stages are kept. On its card in Settings → Modules it shows hidden. Tick Show in the sidebar again to bring it back as it was.

Delete a module

  1. Open Settings → Modules and click the module.
  2. Click Delete module at the bottom left.
  3. If the module has records, you are asked to confirm deleting them too, with how many there are.

When a money module still counts

A module set as money received is part of what your deals say they received, and of the Ledger. Switching it off, deleting it, changing its Amount field, or changing To a deal this is would take that money out of every total. So while it holds records that count, the CRM refuses, and says how many received payments are in the way and what they add up to.

To get past this without losing any money from the totals, click Move them into Payments in that message:

  • Each received record (one in the won stage, such as Received) becomes a payment on the same deal and invoice, for the same amount, dated when it was received. It is recorded with the method Other, the module's name and record number as its reference, and the record's name as its description.
  • Each record stays in the module, as the copy of its payment, so nothing counts twice.
  • The message then says how many were moved, that totals are unchanged, and that you can switch the module off now.

Records that are attached to an invoice but not received yet do not move. If one still holds things up, open it and choose None — a payment on its own under Towards invoice, or delete it. See Client payments that pay the deal's invoices.

Modules set as money spent, or as neither, are not held back this way.

Remove a single field

To take one field out of a module rather than the whole module, click the bin on its row under Fields. See Add and arrange a module's fields.
