Track time on a task
Run a clock on a task, log time by hand, compare it with the estimate, and see who finishes on time.
Knowing how long work takes helps you quote, plan and spot where time goes. Each task keeps the time people spend on it, from a running clock or typed in by hand.
The Time box is in the panel on the right of every task.

Run the clock
- Press Start in the Time box to start your clock. Press Stop to stop it.
- Pressing Start at the top of a task does the same, and also sets the task to In progress.
You can have one clock running at a time. Starting a clock on another task stops the first one. While a clock runs, the Tasks page shows a green button with the task and the time so far.
Your clock also stops when you pause or defer the task, and every clock on a task stops when the task is completed.
Log time by hand
- Press Log time in the Time box.
- Type the hours and minutes, and what the time was spent on in What on.
- Press Add.
The entries are listed under the buttons, with who spent the time. Press all to see every entry. Hover over an entry and press the cross to delete it.
Set an estimate
Type the expected number of hours in est. in the Time box, or in Estimate (hours) when you create the task. The box then shows the time spent against the estimate with a bar. The bar turns red once the time spent goes over the estimate.
The task list shows the same figures in its Time column.
See who finishes on time
Owners, admins and managers have an Efficiency tab on the Tasks page. For each person it shows:
- Efficiency: the share of finished tasks that were finished on time.
- Finished, On time, Open and Overdue: task counts.
- Time: the time logged, and the estimate where there is one.
Choose Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Last 90 days at the top right.
