Hot, warm and cold: the lead score

How ChatIQ scores each visitor from 0 to 100, what raises the score, and where to see the reasons.

Guide 4102Updated

Every visitor gets a lead score from 0 to 100, worked out from what they are doing on your site. The score decides their ring:

Ring Score
Hot 60 or more
Warm 30 to 59
Cold under 30

What raises the score

  • Chatting now, or having chatted before.
  • Identified: you know their email.
  • Coming back: from the second visit, and more from the fifth.
  • Interested pages: pages about prices, plans, contact, a demo, signing up, a cart or checkout, or a quote.
  • Reading more: three pages or more in one visit, and more from six.
  • Time on site: from 90 seconds, and more from five minutes.
  • Where they came from: an ad or a campaign link, or a search engine.

Someone who is chatting and has given their email is always hot.

The score is a guide to where to spend your attention first, not a judgement on anyone. A cold visitor who writes to you is still a customer.
