Choose the name visitors see on replies

Show visitors each agent's own name, one name for everyone such as your brand, or no name, set separately for each website.

Guide 3203Updated

When your team replies, the chat window shows a name: beside each reply, at the top of the window once someone has answered, and on the "typing" line. Each website decides whose name that is.

This matters when one ChatIQ workspace answers for several brands, or when your team's sign-in names are not ones you want customers to see.

The three choices

  • Each agent's own name: visitors see whoever answers, by the name on their profile. Friendly and personal.
  • One name for everyone: every reply shows the name you type, such as your brand. Visitors do not see which person answered.
  • No name: replies show no name at all, and the typing line just says "Typing…".

With One name for everyone or No name, your team's own names are never sent to the visitor's browser, so they cannot be found in the page either.

Change it

Changing it needs the owner or admin role.

  1. Click Websites in the menu.
  2. On the website's card, find Name visitors see on replies.
  3. Choose an option. For One name for everyone, type the name in the box beside it.
  4. Click Save widget settings.

The change applies at once, and to earlier replies too: a visitor looking back through an old chat sees the name you chose today. Your team still sees each other's real names in the Inbox.
