Add your website and install the chat

Add a website to ChatIQ, paste one line of code into it, and check the chat appears.

Guide 3101Updated

Each website you put the chat on is added to ChatIQ once. It gets its own install code and its own settings, so two websites can look and greet visitors differently while your team answers both from one inbox.

Adding and changing websites needs the owner or admin role.

Add a website

  1. Click Websites in the menu.
  2. Click Add website.
  3. Give it a Name your team will recognise, such as the brand it belongs to.
  4. If you like, add its Domain (optional), such as www.example.com.
  5. Click Add website.

Put the chat on your website

Each website's card starts with its Install snippet: one line of code.

  1. Click the copy button beside the snippet.
  2. Paste it into every page of your website, just before </body>. Most website builders and tag managers have one place for code that goes on every page, often called "custom code" or "footer scripts"; paste it there once.
  3. Open your website. The chat button appears in the corner.

The chat loads after the rest of your page, so it does not slow your website down. From then on, everyone browsing the site appears in Live visitors, and every chat they start arrives in the Inbox.

The chat does not appear

  • Check that the snippet is on the page you are looking at, and that the website has not been disconnected.
  • Some websites block code from other addresses with a setting called a Content-Security-Policy. Under the snippet, open Widget not showing? Your site may have a Content-Security-Policy: it shows the two lines your web developer needs to add.
  • Still stuck? Write to support@ticate.com with your website's address.
