Notifications for messages and arrivals

Get a popup and a sound when a visitor writes, and choose which arrivals on your site to be told about.

Guide 2301Updated

ChatIQ can tell you about a new message while you are in another tab or another program, with a popup from your browser and a sound. It can also tell you when someone arrives on your website.

Turn notifications on

  1. Click the bell at the top right.
  2. Click Turn on notifications.
  3. Your browser asks whether ChatIQ may show notifications. Allow it.

Notifications are set for each browser: turn them on in every browser and computer you work from.

What the menu does

  • Popups on or Popups off: the browser popup for each new message.
  • Sound on or Sound off, and Test sound to hear it.
  • When someone arrives on your site: which visitors to be told about.
    • Returning or known visitors: people who have been before, or who have told you who they are. The arrivals most worth a hello, and quiet on a busy site.
    • New visitors: people on your site for the first time.
    • Every visitor.
    • Don't tell me.

You are told about new messages from visitors, not about your team's replies or notes. There is no popup for a conversation you are already reading on screen, and arrivals are not announced while you are watching Live visitors.

When notifications do not appear

  • They work while a ChatIQ tab is open, even in the background. Closing the browser stops them.
  • If the menu says your browser is blocking notifications, allow them for chatiq.ticate.com in the browser's site settings, then reload the page.
  • Your computer's "do not disturb" or focus mode can hide them too.
